About Barnesville Maryland
Originally known as Barnestown, the town of Barnesville was settles in the 1700s by Quakers and quickly became a town based on the production and sale of tobacco, like many of nearby areas. The early 1800s would bring Barnesville more homes, business, and restaurants. The “downtown” area of Barnesville is where most of these shops and restaurants would be established. Barnesville would officially be incorporated in May of 1888. Through the 1900s, Barnesville would continue to construct, develop, and modernize but there were many efforts made to preserve the beauty of its nature and the farmland in the area. Today, Barnesville is known as a beautiful area with so much to do, great schools, and being very neighborly.
